After a great while of silence, we’re now moving Social Media Club Östergötland ahead. The whole directorate of SMC Östergötland has been occupied with alot of stuff, and had hard time to set aside volunteer time to organize an event.
Speaking for myself (Anders Abrahamsson, Programming Director), I had to focus direct revenue-generating activities, and with a stable solution in the loop, I saw a window of opportunity to reactivate SMC Östergötland again.
We will report back on the summer’s activities in a separate blog, but for now we focus on Next Up!
NEXT UP: SMC LUNCH - Hashtag: #SocVid
From a public regional demand, we kick off with a lunch meetup, Dec 4. The special focus of this first lunch is “Social Video” - #SocVid. Our special guest is Anna Lindberg (@annalindberg on Twitter), who kicks off a new interactive media format on December 7 - the talkshow 30 Minuter on 24Nt / 24Corren - the local TV channels of NMT.
An extended background blogging on this event will take place separately /beyond the event tracking the conversation/, but you can RSVP here and now on Twtvite - http://twtvite.com/n7tmlv (Facebook Events Page to come No, we were satisfied with the Twitter Invite this time ;).
This time, the second Barbeque has had only a minimalistic marketing. In fact, it is only included in the general schedule on our wiki page. No twtvite, no Facebook event.
But still, it will be a great one in a dimension that is proving to create a promising trajectory for the future - Anders Sporring (or cityrat59 alias on Twitter, Posterous etc.) from Märsta outside Stockholm will pay a visit to us! He is involved in the process to create a coordination platform and joint Swedish portal for all the local chapters in Sweden to gather around and share events and stories where people has got it and will share :). It’s still in its infancy and was one of the things coming in the aftermath of Social Media Club co-founders Chris Heuer and Brian Solis visit to Stockholm and the Disruptive Media Event May 8.
This is summarized by the first two #hashtags in one to burn and set on fire:
#smcsweden #smcswedendevt - Social Media Club Sweden Development!
There are lunch clubs now in process to get formalized SMC Local/Regional Chapters in all the three biggest towns aside the fourth biggest urban region of the Twin Cities (or shall we call it Twit Cities ? ).
Ahead is also the Sweden Social Web Camp where the development will be brought up. And our local BBQs are a part of that forming process for us, to see where we take ourselves.
The third hashtag to burn will be the Social Media Release, which was just recently presented by Shel Holtz on IABC annual world conference, and he has worked e. g. with Chris and Brian, and also Todd Defren etc. I will blog separately on that after the nice meeting with Anders Sporring tomorrow at our second BBQ when things have cleared what to do about this exciting evolvement of the thing formerly known as the “press release”! This work has been going on since 2006, with some stepping up of efforts from 2008 and onwards. Now some standardised work is ready to be rolling out in the world, following a soon-to-be introduced microformat called hRelease to set the general components of the Social Media Release. So, second:
#socialmediarelease !
More details on time/place of event - see http://tr.im/smcogtlwiki - but in short, it’s 3pm in Folkparken, Norrköping.
And as all times this summer, we make the event as a branded party tent in conjunction with the cultural creatives NEMCOM - Norrköping Electronic Music Community, Pompom in the Park event - electonica picnic! See http://nemcom.nu.
Last but least, the weather forecast promises Peak Summer, and that has been the case for almost all week! It will be beyond 25 degree C and a hot sun to keep the hot dogs even hotter than they are usually! And our brains and spirit on fire as well ;).
See you tomorrow!

PS. We owe the world a report from the first event on June 6 - there are some nice pics etc and what was the outcome. Sorry for lagging behind here, will level up ASAP beyond tomorrow!
For those who want to converse Social Media all aspects in informal and nice settings, there are two groups running “Social Media Lunch Clubs”, and a third one will be established this Fall.
Already running (with respective Facebook Group linked and coordinator Twitter IDs):
That means we have similar activities in all four biggest urban regions in Sweden, and we’re currently setting the forms also for lunches this Fall - after the BBQ season, of course ! We intend to alternate in between the Twin Cities - Norrköping and Linköping.
The “Last Friday” principle - lunches 13 to 14.30 last Friday every month - now have governed the dates for SSMLC, so I guess it will be all the same over the country:
28/8
25/9
30/10
27/11
18/12
Who’s the first taker in “Norrland”, north of Dalälven ?
Some half hour away from start writing this post, we harmonize the topical hashtags for our BBQ this Saturday in one corner with the Social Media Camp hosted by Chris Heuer and Howard Greenstein in New York - streamed live here http://www.livestream.com/socialmediaclub.
The full topical list;
Our Social Media 101 Track, which will be happening in addition to the many sessions being offered by leading Social Media Professionals will include sessions on
Introduction to Social Media - What it is, What it isn’t; Social Media Principles; Tags, Conversation, Community, Social Networks and why this shift in technology is important for all organizations (and employees to understand)
Creating a digital identity, building a personal brand - Before you can engage in these conversations, how do you portray yourself in your profiles? Where should you make profiles? How do you want to be perceived
Social media tools, services and networks - Highlighting the key services and software that are at the heart of the online social universe, we will discuss Twitter, WordPress, Flickr, Digg, Disqus, Lijit, FaceBook, Linkedin and much more
Using Social Media for Job Searches (Job Seekers & Employers) - At this time, your presence online, or lack thereof, is speaking volumes about you to potential employers (and vice versa). In this session we will discuss how social media is changing the job search process and what you can do to stand out as well as what you can do to find the right person if you are hiring.
Marketing Through Social Media - In this session, through case studies and practical examples, we will discuss how Social Media is being used to develop better customer relationships, reach new markets, cultivate word of mouth and create better search engine optimization of your web site. Specific and practically applied tactics will be discussed and your questions will be answered.
Small Group Consultations - At the end of the day, during the last session, several social media professionals from New York and beyond will sit down in smaller groups with participants to answer questions and help you apply what you have learned to your specific business challenge.
Our freeform convo during the BBQ focus this Saturday is departing from #socialmedia + #marketing #organization - and if you want to digest further with some more food for thoughtto put on fire, see posts on the http://socialmediacamp.org that are filled with resources beyond the slides and casts posted in the event blog;
It’s time to kick off the Social Media Club Östergötland (Linköping/Norrköping with surroundings) through a Social Activity! It’s a barbeque in Folkparken, Norrköping - June 6 (the Swedish National Day), at 15.00 in the afternoon.
The main purpose is to remind us that we are HUMANS and that SOCIAL activity should be FUN. No more, no less. MEDIA does not separate us at this event. Not even technology :).
…let’s peek into the co-founder Chris Heuer’s presentations from SMC Birmingham meetup and Disruptive Media in Stockholm. The first is on the principles, the other is on its implications for “organizing”.
One-liner from the casting: “Dysfunctional organizations cannot adapt social media…” - see the screencast from http://disruptivemedia.blip.tv here;
Bring your own stuff for what to have on fire. Meat (or fake soya based and topics to burn !
In summary, the tags to fry this Saturday: #socialmedia #marketing #organization !
We can sure also toast the founding team of SMC Östergötland and put them on the test for what they intend to do to stimulate the development of social media in the region!
The hashtag for sharing tweets, blogs, pics and whatever for the club is #smcogtl and the event hashtag is #smcogtlBBQ1
WELCOME!

UPDATE June 4, 17.36 - @socialmediaclubQuestion of the Week relates to #socialmedia + #organization - “SMCQ12 How are companies using social media to empower their workforce?” - If you want to contribute to this conversation, use tag SMCQ12 on blogs and #SMCQ12 in your tweets. Also something to take to the BBQ :).
–
NOTE:
The BBQ takes place in conjunction with the “electronic picnic” première for the summer, arranged by friends NEMCOM (http://nemcom.nu, now with a brand new site - Norrköping Electronic Music Community) - PomPom in the Park - PomPom i Parken. Check FB Group for the event series this summer. On the Première the SMC Programming Director Anders shows up in his alias “DJ Anders” :). Party, as said… open air!
We’ve so far had two events where the core team wanting to setup the club and local/regional chapter met to set the agenda. The SMC Östergötland team originally met the first time at the Twestival Norrköping event in February 12, and that was the first time to have some cross-follows for @sliceonline, @andk, @ptz0n, @akrogirl and @selig, now forming the SMC Östergötland organizing team! In other words, we met offline the first time :).
Beyond a workshop, and a follow-up formal meeting where we had a constitutional meeting for a supportive NGO to take the administrative part of SMC Östergötland events and others related in the relevant spheres also having open brands for meetups and events, we’re now ready to outline our agenda!
First out is a Social Media Club Barbeque, see separate post!
The post-its from our creative workshop will be scanned, summarized and reported back in a separate blog post later on.
The longer, full story on how SMC came to be set up here in Norrköping/Linköping shared also in a future background posting.
We’re open to all suggestions, share your ideas on the SMC Wiki!
